As the scientific study of exercise and sport, Exercise Science unleashes an altogether new experience for students interested in the study of physical activity and the impact it has on health, fitness and athletics. As a discipline that's heavily rooted in the physical and life sciences including chemistry, biology and physics, Exercise Science draws on the experiences and knowledge of a broad spectrum of academic resources, including award-winning faculty. At SVSU, students engage in scientific research and education of how human movement influences a person's daily performance from their fitness routine to their basic health. Through collaborative interactions with sports teams and community partners, students connect and discover real-world experiences pivotal to their educational and professional growth. Within the Exercise Science program, fellow students get the chance to learn and explore in interactive environments from SVSU's state-of-the-art laboratory space and classrooms to the sidelines on the field—for these cardinals, the real world is their playground!
